Look what the cat dragged in

The one thing that really bums me out during fashion week is seeing designers I love hit rock bottom with their collections...

Rodarte; ladies, c'mon! You're so off-point it hurts.

Knits are great, but these looks are comparable to something the cat dragged in and/or regurgitated. And the choice of patterns??!?!!?!?!? The twisting and the wrapping and the blah??? EEK! It's all wrong and ill-fitting.
Maybe their actual collection wasn't quite ready to debut, so instead the Mulleavy's used scraps of whatever shit upholstery they could find to fashion some sort of "garment."

Pictures from Coutorture (ha, this is torture)

I suppose I enjoyed the socks...

Sigh,

Who wouldn't love a Geller Boy?

This season is one of the first times I've paid full attention to the menswear collections, but Robert Geller has always been one to catch my eye. For his Fall 2010 collection we see thoughtful layering and mix-n-matching techniques and some elegant styling which suggests practicality and style can, in fact, be one in the same. Here, Geller is giving us this clean Mad Men look, but lovingly guiding the old into the new for a collection that is both successful and conceptual.

From fancy vests and tailored cocktail jackets to knitted sweaters, fur collars, and military boots, the 1950s homme is embellished with modern ideals, textures, and silhouettes. Essentially, Geller is taking his man from uptown to downtown and back again, creating a sweet companionship of hip and classic, and delicate yet rugged, which are harmonies many designers seem to overlook from season-to-season.

Robert Geller is not simply giving his audience a wearable collection, he's giving them the edge and ratified classic menswear pieces they want.

Where mix and match live happily every after.

professing my undying love for Helmut Lang

oh, Helmut, you never cease to amaze me. the shapes, the textures, the material...everything that i could ever want in life. other than rag&bone, Helmut Lang is my all time favorite label. I could literally wear everything in each collection and be content for the rest of my life. it is everything the modern girl could ever need in her wardrobe.
that being said, the fall collection is nothing short of amazing, once again. the textured wool and leather, the beautiful fur detailing, and the perfect proportions show that nicole and michael colovos truly know what their customer is looking for. i was really tempted to put every single picture from the collection up here; it was quite difficult for me to choose my favorites.

i want everything from this collection. i love it all, from the neutral color palette to the distressed leather to the fitted dresses. MOM COME BACK TO NEW YORK AND TAKE ME SHOPPING!!!!!

Whirlwind Day! Rag&Bone backstage

What a day! So exhausting/exhilarating/insane/amazing! From 9 am until 6 pm today non-stop action! I got to work backstage at both the Rag & Bone shows - men's runway and presentation in the morning and women's runway this evening. It was amazing. David and Marcus never fail to present fantastic collections. Congratulations to the entire design team - it was a blast! Got to hang with some of my favorite models and actually watch both of the shows. Plus, I stood right behind Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington during the women's show! Here are some of the photos i took with my iphone (there are a lot):
