Hey Karl, feeling a bit bloated?

so before i even attempt to comment on Chanel, i have to say that honestly, if i were 40 and a millionaire, it would be Chanel all day, every day.
However, i'm having a hard time understanding where Karl is coming from with the current collection. It is just so unflattering! All the suiting looks incredibly matronly to me. The whole suit-shorts thing is just not working out. Meanwhile, the dresses look like something an overweight person would wear to cover up their midsection! Everything from the hair pouf, to the ice queen lame´ silver, to the enlarged dresses is just so off in my opinion.

these shorts just look like something my grandmother would wear...she's 80..

neon yellow with silver tinsel trim!?!?!!!??!??!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!??!??!?!?!?!?

i don't even know...the proportions are just so wrong. makes a size 2 model look like she has some serious child-bearin' hips.

like a 2001 space odyssey/zoolander wedding on crack. seriously, Lagerfeld, a tight shiny silver men's suit? i feel for ya abbey..

granted, it IS Chanel so there were a few redeeming pieces, such as these intricately detailed cape-like things:

well, i don't know what bizarre crevice of your mind this collection came from, Karl, but please, NEVER AGAIN!

on a more serious note, R.I.P. J.D. Salinger. Holden Caulfield will forever be one of my most beloved literary characters.

I've been sick for the past couple of weeks with "sinusitis" and it took me a while to get my butt to the clinic for some silly antibiotics. Finally, a couple days ago, I made it uptown, got my prescription, slept for two days, and WHATDOYAKNOW?!~*~*~ The drugs really work!

Feeling like a million bucks this morning, I am actually going to go style-hunting today at 3:15 with Aviel. We will be back to post some pictures of real peepz later.

What??? OHH!

Help me figure this out:
A. life-size human Jet-Puffed marshmallows do not only exist in nightmares
B. Planet Fashion space gear
C. public service announcement regarding ready-to-wear obesity
D. models, brace yourselves, did you think your legs could be skinnier than your arms?
E. Balenciaga and Calvin Klein attempt (and fail) to make Violet-turned-blueberry look cute

Answer?

I'm going to cry myself to sleep over this.
Goodnight oompa loompas,
Emilie

I guess I did some "things." I played around with arts and crafts today, walked approximately 50 blocks to my apartment from MoMA, drank 3 cups of coffee, ate a bag of chips, breathed, spoke, blinked, etc.

Aviel takes the cake with the posts. I am creatively stunted AT THE MOMENT.

More later,

why i love the british

so after much laziness/copious amounts of first week of school scare-you-into-dropping-the-class homework/anxiety induced apartment cleaning, i have decided to get back on the blogging bandwagon.
as most of you know, i intern at rag & bone, and right now all of the pieces from the spring 2010 show are getting ready to be put out in stores. lucky little me, i get to see everything before it goes out to the public (and the fall stuff too (-; )! muahaha

anywho, the men's stuff is amazing...think chunky cashmere sweaters and mountain climbing-inspired jackets. i want everything for myself....
i got a first look at the women's stuff yesterday and i have to say i think i may have died and gone to preppy/sportswear heaven. i just wanted to share with you one of my favorite pieces from the collection that i saw up close and personal yesterday.

these pants:

and here they are in the shorts version (love you freja):

i love them so much...they are super soft, almost like long-johns. for some reason i am really liking the whole drop crotch sweat pants thing. its a weird obsession that i can't explain. i have seen some other versions of these type of pants; what i love about these ones is the detailing - on the inner leg there are silk patches like ones found on riding breeches. there is also silk detailing on the top and tapering at the bottom, all the better for slouch-age. david and marcus do a great job of taking traditional, almost preppy, pieces and rethinking them in a modern and wearable way.
i believe they come out sometime next month...they will be mine!!

Channeling my inner kate moss

HEYOOOO!

so whilst i was out and about in brooklyn last night/walking around my hood (meatpacking) with em today/pretty much all the time, i have noticed how much the whole 90's grunge thing is re-emerging. thus, i have been setting my sights on channeling kate moss circa johnny depp because, 1) my hair tends to always be in some sort of wavy tizzy, 2) she had a great knack for looking disheveled/stylish at the same time while not really giving a fuck, which i feel like us ladiez are always striving towards, and 3) 90's johnny depp.....just johnny depp during any decade would be fine actually.

i was scrolling through some of my old saved pictures and, lo and behold, i found some of my favorites of the two tucked away in the depths of my hard drive.

i've always loved how youthful and free-spirited they both look in these photographs.

seeing as i have to start school on tuesday and have a full interning day on monday (rag&bone), i am going to take advantage of my last night of freedom! gotta go call emilie and make sure she gets out of bed......

Kimmy Keegan should never wear Balenciaga

Ugly Betty, really?! Would Balenciaga approve...

"They don't make it over a size 6 for a reason. WE ALL KNOW THE BACK ISN'T ZIPPED, LINDSAY. Girl needs to work," says David.

Goodnight and love from Chelsea,
David and Emilie

PS: Aviel, my partner in crime is such a party animal. While I am in, catching up on some much needed fashion trivia and Fashionista (because David hasn't had his daily dose), Aviel is in Brooklyn. Hope you're having fun, sweet girl. Make sure to take silly pictures of the lacy drop-crotch pants and stretchy waist-belts -_-

PSS: David needs to stop walking in 6 inch aqua platforms. Trannies are not a good look at 1:54am.

So it's about time

Well hey,

Aviel and I (we are both writing this, I am just typing...) have been toying with the idea of a ~*blog!*!*!* and what do ya know? Now we've got one! Our very own little baby.

Basically, we enjoy people-watching... It's some sort of hobby (or something) and we'd like to record and discuss things we see out and about New York City.

What the hay, fun times for everyone and ladeedadeedadeeeeeda.

Look out for these two blonde bombshells, we might take your photo. MAYBE.
